Junior & Senior Infant news - The Garden Centre
In October Junior and Senior Infants Aistear topic was 'The Garden Centre'.
The children played in the garden centre where they sold seeds and bulbs, they watered plants, made flower arrangements and grew their own vegetables.
The children made wonderful houses with beautiful gardens with outdoor sheds in the lego area. The sand area was changed to soil, here we planted lots of seeds and bulbs using our tools and gardening gloves. In the 'garden pond' we played in the water which had lots of lily pads and water beads that we loved!
At the end of week two we were lucky enough to have a gardener come into our class. Anthony explained how plants grow and showed us plants at different stages of growth. He helped us plant our bulbs and explained what we have to do to care for them. Anthony brought a variety of plants with him to show us, we were delighted when he said he would raffle them! A few children took home some beautiful plants that day! We loved our time in the garden centre and maybe some of us will be gardeners in years to come.
